The Axworthy Health & RecPlex, located in the heart of Winnipeg, Manitoba, is a world-class facility that offers a wide range of recreational activities for sports enthusiasts, students, and community members. This indoor field house is part of the University of Winnipeg campus and is named in honor of Dr. Lloyd Axworthy, a former President and Vice-Chancellor of the university.
At the core of the facility is a spacious multi-use artificial turf field that can be divided into three smaller cross-fields. This design allows the space to support numerous sports, including pickup soccer, flag football, and ultimate frisbee. Additionally, the facility includes a four-lane 60m rubberized sprint track, perfect for those interested in track and field, and retractable batting cages for softball or baseball training.
On the second floor, visitors will find the Community Gym, which hosts pickup basketball, volleyball, or badminton games. This area also accommodates community groups for activities such as pow wow clubs and smudging ceremonies, thanks to the soundproof and ventilated Thomas Sill Multi-Purpose Room.
For those who prefer to relax and watch the action, the Drew Olson Student Lounge offers a comfortable space with a view of the field. During select events, snacks and beverages are available at The Canteen, adding to the enjoyment of your visit.
